Here at Greys we are always looking for gaps in the rod market. We discovered a huge void when it comes to a light line float rod that stores away compactly enough for the travelling angler and yet provides a decent action.Thus the G-tec 11ft Compact Float Rod was born and what a revelation it is! This slim, lightweight rod ahs a progressive action, which is capable of castng wagglers a long way, but it also has a lovely forgiving anti-lock nature when put under pressure, so it can deal with light lines and small hooks.
During extensive field-testing the 11ft Compact accounted for some huge catches of carp up to nearly 20lbs! This was when using a maximum recommended 6lb main line with a 5lb hook length - combined with pellet waggler tactics. It also performed brilliantly with its minimum 2lb trace rating and smaller hooks when used under more difficult conditions. Most short section travel rods that break down compactly enough to store in the boot of a car, of take on an airplane, have very stiff actions when fully assembled. But the G-Tec 11ft Compact design is very different. It has a similar action to many two or three piece float rods. This means it's equally at home casting light wagglers and stick floats, to launching out loaded floats like pellet wagglers up to 5g. The 11ft Compact Float Rod can also be broken down in a longer two-piece formaat, which is really handy when pre-tackling it up and storying it in a quiver sleeve or ready bag.
