Carp Catchers News – 18/12/2010
Saturday, December 18th, 2010Anglers in the Colne Valley are worried about the governments plans for a new high speed rail link between London and Birmingham. The powers that be seem intent on pushing the plans through despite the downturn in the economic climate and swingeing cuts in public spending. One of the proposed routes would cut through the historic Savay Lake with towering aquaduct type tracks. This is bad news for all carp anglers as the Colne Valley is home to a lot of carp waters that form part of the history of our sport. If you want to help stop this colossal waste of taxpayers money and save our historic carp waters please follow the link and sign the petition http://www.gopetition.co.uk/petitions/stop-hs2.html

New Products – Nash Siren Bite Alarm & Nash Siren Receiver
Wednesday, December 15th, 2010We now have the new Nash Siren RS-1 Bite Alarms and Nash Siren RS-1 Receiver in stock. The Nash Siren RS-1 Bite Alarm is virtually indestructible being made of the same material as riot shields. The Sirens screw in stainless steel snag ears ensure rock solid rod support and piece of mind when fishing to snags. There is no need for expensive Beta Lights with the Siren Bite Alarm as it has built in low intensity rod location illumination and a split prism illuminated roller wheel provides visual indication from any angle even on the brightest of days. The Nash Siren Bite Alarm also has a removable bobbin guard, mute function and an integrated bobbin attachment amongst a host of other features. For more information or to purchase please click on the above link.
The Nash Siren RS-1 Receiver is the first remote receiver with a two way radio allowing you to change the settings on your alarms from the comfort of your bedchair, just like your TV remote at home. The Siren Receiver has 5 volume settings, 5 tone settings, vibration function and an anti theft alarm system. One of revolutionary features of the Nash Siren RS-1 Receiver is the bite detection sensitvity. The Siren Bite Alarm and Receiver measure the speed of the line movement over the roller rather than the distance the line moves. This technology negates false bite indications and achieves optimum sensitivity even in the windiest of conditions. For more information or to purchase please click on the above link.

Atomic Tackle Choppa Droppa Rig
Monday, December 13th, 2010The Atomic Tackle Choppa Droppa is a safety helicopter lead system, offering a setup that can be fished in or around weed that will allow the lead to drop should it become snagged.

In this demonstration I used the Atomic Tackle Choppa Droppa Ready Rigs but Atomic do sell a Choppa Droppa Kit which enables you to use your own choice of leadcore or leader.
Step 1.
Pull the micro bore bead off the small leadcore link, then thread on your lead followed by the micro bore bead onto the small leadcore link.

Step 2.
Using a baiting needle pull the leadcore link through the Choppa Droppa clip.

Leadcore link pulled through.
Step 3.
Now tear a small piece off a PVA nugget and roll it between your fingers.

Step 4.
Push the PVA stop into the loop at the end of the small leadcore link and pull it tight against the clip. Attach a rig and the setup is now ready to cast out.

Trevors hookbait was tipped with a piece of Enterprise Pop Up Sweetcorn to counter balance the hook. The successful rig was a Solar Weed Effect Rig tied to a size 4 Solar Longshank Hook on a Korda Lead Clip and 15lb Korda Subline as the mainline. Trevor also had mirrors of 44 & 43lb.
