Solid Bags Do It Again!

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

After another weekend session on my Nene Valley syndicate I managed to bank 2 carp to 24lb. The fish were landed using Korda Solidz PVA Bags filled with PVA friendly hemp, which was made by drying off some Dynamite Baits Frenzied Hempseed and adding a generous amount of Mainline Hemp Oil and leaving it to soak in for atleast an hour. Dynamite Baits Frenzied Monster Tiger Nuts where critically balanced and used as hookbaits with Avid Carp Sight Stops for added visual attraction.

Oxlease Thirty

Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

I made another trip down to Richworth Linear Fisheries recently and had another good result. I landed 12 fish during my session the biggest being a 30lb 4oz Mirror. All the fish fell to either critically balanced tiger nut or boilie hookbaits with Avid Carp Sight Stops fished at 85 yards to the island over a spodded area of hemp, corn, chops, maggots, pellets and crushed tigers. Baits were presented in Extra Small Korda Solidz PVA Bags using 2.5oz Avid Carp Inline Groove Leads and short hooklinks.

A Nice Return

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

After a year with virtually no carp fishing I had a nice return to my syndicate. The 32lb 2oz mirror carp shown below was my reward. It was caught on 18mm Mainline Activ 8 Boilies. My rig was tied old school D rig style with 30lb GLT No Can See Fluorocarbon to a size 6 Gardner Longshank Incizor hook.

Both fish were landed using critically balanced Dynamite Baits Tiger Nuts and Avid Carp Sight Stops over a spodded area of hemp, corn, chops, maggots, pellets and crushed tigers. Zig Rig Success

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Zig rigs or Zigs as they are more commonly called can be a very effective method of angling when the carp are up in the water and not interested in feeding on the bottom. Here is a Zig caught 25lb14oz mirror from last week that was caught 2ft under the surface in 12ft of water on a hot day when the carp could be seen sitting under the surface soaking up a bit of sunshine. The fish was caught using Drennan Super Specialist Barbel Hooks and a small artificial bait.

Big Frenchy For Trevor

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Customer Trevor Higgs had a whacking great French carp on a recent session at Luke Moffets’ Le Graviers. The big mirror weighed 53lb exactly and was caught at 250yrds range over a 3-4 kilo bed of Premier boilies. Trevors hookbait was tipped with a piece of Enterprise Pop Up Sweetcorn to counter balance the hook. The successful rig was a Solar Weed Effect Rig tied to a size 4 Solar Longshank Hook on a Korda Lead Clip and 15lb Korda Subline as the mainline. Trevor also had mirrors of 44 & 43lb. Well done Trevor great session.

Autumn Success

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

The autumn period has to be one of my favourite times of year for fishing. The leaves are falling off the trees, a lot of anglers start to stay at home due to colder conditions and the fish get on the munch before the impending winter, as this recent capture of mine proves during a session on one of my syndicates. Its a fish known as the “Dumpy Mirror” and weighed in at 34lb exactly. The fish fell to a corkball pop up fished on a Chod Rig consisting of an ESP Stiff Rigger Hook, Gardner Tripwire and 9 ft of ESP Original Camo Leadcore.

Get out there and bag an autumn whacker!
