Manor Thirty

Saturday, July 23rd, 2011

On a recent session to Richworth Linear Fisheries I caught a 32lb 4oz Mirror and a 21lb Common. Both fish were landed using critically balanced Dynamite Baits Tiger Nuts and Avid Carp Sight Stops over a spodded area of hemp, corn, chops, maggots, pellets and crushed tigers. The nuts were presented in Extra Small Korda Solidz PVA Bags with small micro pellets and groundbait and cast to a small clear area in the weed at about 70 yards.

BCAC 2011 – Farlows – Team Carp Catchers

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

Gary Westcott and myself fished in the British Carp Angling Championship qualifier at Farlows Lake recently. Unfortunately we didn’t qualify but we did score five points for the Carp Catchers Team. Gary and I had two carp for 45lb 2oz and also lost one. Garys fish came on his own Innovate Baits boilies, mine came on Mainline Baits Activ-8. We had a great weekend and really enjoyed the experience.

                                                                                            20lb 4oz

                                                                                                 24lb 14oz

PB Ghostie For Me

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

After a recent 24 hour session on a local syndicate I landed this stunning 25lb 8oz Ghostie along with 4 other fish. The fish fell to my standard blowback set up consisting of the new Korda Kaptor Wide Gape Hooks, Korda Weed Green Shrink Tube and Atomic Jel-E-Wyre hooklink with an Armaled Locjaw Safety Leadclip, 3oz Korda Pear Swivel Lead and 3 ft of ESP Leadcore. The hookbait was a 20mm snowman presentation topped with a 14mm Solar Fluoro Pineapple pop-up. The fish were all landed with the aid of the new Korda Subline.

Autumn Success

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

The autumn period has to be one of my favourite times of year for fishing. The leaves are falling off the trees, a lot of anglers start to stay at home due to colder conditions and the fish get on the munch before the impending winter, as this recent capture of mine proves during a session on one of my syndicates. Its a fish known as the “Dumpy Mirror” and weighed in at 34lb exactly. The fish fell to a corkball pop up fished on a Chod Rig consisting of an ESP Stiff Rigger Hook, Gardner Tripwire and 9 ft of ESP Original Camo Leadcore.

Get out there and bag an autumn whacker!

Fluoro Magic!

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

Heres a nice common carp weighing in at 26lb 8oz. The fish fell to a snowman hookbait with a Solar Juicy Pineapple Fluoro pop-up topping the combination. I have had a lot of success this year using snowmans with bright fluoro pop-ups.  The rig was my usual Blowback Rig consisting of  Atomic Jel-E-Wyre  hooklink material and a Korda Wide Gape Hook in conjunction with a 3oz pear lead, ESP Bulk Spool Leadcore  in Original Camo and an Armaled Lead Clip.

Fully Scaled For Rob

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Customer Rob O’Brien continues his roll with this gorgeous fully scaled mirror. Weighing 22lb 4oz (weight doesn’t really matter when they’re as stunning as this) Robs mirror was caught from a spot he’s been pre-baiting. The rig Rob used was unchanged, tied KD style with 25lb Atomic Jel-E-Wyre  to a size 8 Korda Wide Gape Hook. Because of the weed Rob dropped the lead on the take using a Korda Hybrid Lead Clip Leader. Keep this roll going Rob, I want to see more of these stunning carp.

One For The Future

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

In this Carp Catchers Blog we have one for the future. Customer Rob O’Brien sent in this photo of this gorgeous scaly mirror carp not a monster but who cares. Also notice how Rob has chosen a suitable background for his catch photo which really enhances the whole thing. Rig details are sketchy but a Korda Choddy  hook and a Korda IQ Hooklink  were involved.

The Catfish Ball

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

One of our customers sent us this very fishy story…….Read on

” A guy that lives at Lake Conroe (50 miles north of Houston, Texas) saw a ball in the lake that was bouncing around rather strangely and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flat head catfish that had apparently tried to swallow a basketball, which consequently became stuck in it’s mouth!!!

The catfish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, which it was unable to do because the ball would always bring it back up to the surface. The guy in question tried repeatedly to dislodge the ball, but was unsuccessful. He eventually got his wife to cut the ball in order to deflate it. The ball was now easily removed and the catfish was released to the safety of the inky depth’s.

Unbelievable ? check the photo’s below

Scenic Dawn

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Here’s a really nice scenic dawn shot from Ian Smith. The photograph is a carp fishermans dream, reminiscent of those days when lakes were less busy.
