Guru Inline Pellet & Method Feeders – How To

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

Guru produce two types of inline feeders, the Guru Inline Method Feeder and the Guru Inline Pellet feeder. They are setup the same way but are used with different bait loaded onto the feeder. The Guru Pellet feeder is designed to be used with soft scaulded pellets as loose feed in the feeder and the Method feeder is to be used with a method mix moulded around one side of the feeder, both giving similar presentations with different baits. Both of the Guru feeders come in two sizes, 24 grams and 28 grams.

Step 1.

Remove the small tail rubber and swivel from either end of the feeder, like so.

Step 2.

Now thread you mainline through the tail rubber (Narrow end first) and the feeder.

Step 3.

Attach the swivel supplied to the end of your mainline using a Palomar knot.

Step 4.

Push the tail rubber back into place at the top of the feeder, then pull the swivel back into the bottom of the feeder.

Now to attach the hooklink. If you buy Guru’s readymade hair rigs they will come with a loop tied in the end but if you like to tie your own then tie a loop in the end using a Figure of eight loop knot.

Step 5.

Pass the looped end of the rig though the swivel of the feeder.

Step 6.

Now pass the hook though the loop at the end of the rig.

Step 7.

Pull the hook end of the rig until everything tightens down. The rig will look like this.

Your feeder is now ready to be baited and cast out.

Give them a go. To purchase either the pellet or method feeders click on the the above links.

New Products – Solar Weed Effect leaders, Hooklink & Leads Plus ESP Chod Rigs

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

We now have the Solar Weed Effect Range in stock. First up we have The Solar Weed Effect Hooklink which looks and feels like weed. The Weed Effect Hooklink is tied with a size 6 Longshank Hook, but has a unique system which makes hooks interchangable, so any size or pattern of hook can be used. The soft feel anti tangle fibres will absorb dips and flavours or lake bed odours for either increased attraction or concealment. For more information or to purchase please click on the above link. The Solar Weed Effect Leadcore Leader has the same realistic soft touch anti tangle weed effect fibres and comes in 35lb B.S. 1 metre lengths with spliced loops at each end. The Solar Weed Effect Leads have colour coded tags attached to the swivel to differentiate between sizes and feature the same fibres as the above products. For more information or to purchase please click on the above links.

A lot of carp anglers struggle to tie chod rigs, so ESP have done something about it. The ESP Chod Rigs are tied with ESP Stiff Rigger Hooks, Bristle Filament and a smooth Japanese Uni Link Ring Swivel. These look really well tied and uniform guys and you get three in a pack at a decent price. To check them out or to buy please click on the above link.

Happiness

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Lots of catch reports lately, we’ll get back to rigs and such as soon as I catch up. Still catch reports are good as they show that carp can be caught and gives you the methods they’re caught on. Below is my nephew Julius with a 14lb common carp caught on his first cast on his first carp fishing trip. How happy does he look ? Julius used Dynamite Baits Red Fish Shelf Life Boilies  and a PVA bag of pellets on the hook to bag his first carp. The winning rig was a  Rigmarole CamH2O Fluorocarbon Readymade Rigs . Julius used the new Nash rod and Shimano Baitrunner ST 6000 RA  that he got from Carp Catchers.Well done Jules!!

How To – Atomic Tackle Maggot Rig

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

The Atomic Tackle Maggot Rig uses the inline lead setup fished helicopter style allowing a large PVA stocking of maggots to be tied to the swivel at the base of the lead. This enables the hook to be secured to the PVA stocking so once cast out the PVA bag will melt leaving your maggot hookbait lying in amongst the other maggots.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig1

For the purpose of the demonstration I used a Gardner Readymade Mag Aligner Rig.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig12

Step 1.

Pull out the large ring swivel from the base of the lead.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig2

Step 2.

Now thread your mainline through the lead. ( If using leadcore or a leader, you will need to splice or loop the swivel on)

Atomic_Maggot_Rig3

Step 3.

Tie your mainline to the swivel, I would suggest a palomar knot. To tie a palomar knot double over your mainline and pass it through the eye of your swivel.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig5

Then tie an overhand knot with the doubled over mainline.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig6

Now pass the swivel through the loop made by the overhand knot.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig7

Then moisten the knot, slowly tighten it down and trim the tag end.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig8

Step 4.

Once the knot is tied pull the swivel into the insert in the base of the lead.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig9

Step 5.

Now you need to either tie your rig to the swivel above the lead. If the rig has a loop in the end pass the loop through the swivel before passing the hookend of the rig through the loop and tightening as I’ve done in this demonstration.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig10

The finished rig should look like this.

Atomic_Maggot_Rig

The large ring at the base of the lead is for the PVA mesh bag to be tied to, then all you need to do is push the hook through the PVA mesh to secure it for casting.

Give it a go.
