New Products – Korda Stow Indicators

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

We now have the full Korda Stow Indicator Range in stock now. The Korda Stow Indicator System allows unparalleled sensitivity when using slack or tight lines. Korda acquired the rights to the design from Carl Pashley, the originator of the Elstow bobbins, because they thought that the concept truly represented a step forward in indicator design. That’s not to say that the development team, headed up by Damian Clarke, just copied Carl’s originals. In fact, the resulting bobbins have benefitted from a long period of refining, tweaking and remodelling. The specially configured line clip helps transmit ANY line movement into positive indications that help you to understand what’s happening at the rig end and Stows are especially good at picking up line bites. The Korda Stow Indicator Heads allow you to have more than one colour set of heads or to use with other systems. To protect the Indicator Systems there is the Korda Stow Away Case in either a 3 or 2 rod set. The Korda Stow Lites  are high powered isotopes in colours to match the indicator heads providing maximum visibility at night. Should you prefer the fashionable black chains these are available The Stow Black Chains come in both sizes. If snags feature regularly in your fishing the Stow Bars should come in useful they come in black or silver. For long range fishing there are the Stow Over Weights in two sizes. Finally The Korda Stow Magnetic Hockey Stix and Magnetic Adaptor allow you to have the Stow magnetic quick release system with other indicator systems. Update – Farlows Lake

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

An update now on the campaign to save Farlows Lake from being turned into a marina. I have been informed by the bailiffs that the marina proposals have been turned down by the council. Great news! However the owner is planning to resubmit the proposal, so we will have to keep an eye out for the future. Thank you to all those who emailed in support of the campaign.

PB Ghostie For Me

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

After a recent 24 hour session on a local syndicate I landed this stunning 25lb 8oz Ghostie along with 4 other fish. The fish fell to my standard blowback set up consisting of the new Korda Kaptor Wide Gape Hooks, Korda Weed Green Shrink Tube and Atomic Jel-E-Wyre hooklink with an Armaled Locjaw Safety Leadclip, 3oz Korda Pear Swivel Lead and 3 ft of ESP Leadcore. The hookbait was a snowman presentation. The fish were all landed with the aid of the new Korda Subline.

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Avid Carp Sight Stops are a useful boilie stop that adds visual attraction to your hookbait. They are available in long and short to suit your hair length and enable you to change bait size without tying up new rigs. The Avid Carp Sight Stops are made of a durable plastic and come in a range of bright and visual colours to draw attention to your hookbait in any conditions. Close Season – 2011

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Another reminder now. There is a national coarse fish closed season on all rivers, streams, drains from the 15th of March to 15th of June inclusive. Some stillwaters and canals which are designated sites of specific scientific interest (SSSI’s) also have the same close season. So make sure you are fishing legally, as you can face a big fine and a criminal record if you are caught otherwise.

Rod Licence – 2011

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

A reminder that your rod licence is due to expire on the 15th/16th March. As I have stressed before you can get a criminal record and a fine of up to £2000 if you are caught without a valid licence so it really isn’t worth the risk. A rod licence costs £27 for the year, if you fish with more than 2 rods you will need 2 rod licences. Licences are available from the Post Office, by phone from The Environment Agency on 08708 506 506 or online at www.environment-agency.gov.uk/fish. Tight lines and happy fishing for the coming season.
