One Step Closer To The Ghostie

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Little David has sent in a catch report.

I have just returned from quite a hectic session at Welham lake where I’ve got my first season ticket on the lake and decided to test it out as I had high expectations for it this winter having already lost possibly the biggest in the lake!.

I arrived later than I hoped on a Friday night due to homework (typical! My French teacher’s always had it in for me!)and when I arrived with this glum weather I had to set up my rods In a mad dash due to this I didn’t have much of a choice of swims so I decided to share a swim with my friend. After baiting the rods and putting out some bait I decided to speak to a few of the guys next door to me and they had told me that the biggest fish out the whole week had only been 12lb (Quite bizarre for that lake!)

Later on that evening after having some grub I stayed up late having a social with some of the guys, when I finally retired to the bag it wasn’t long before my left hand rod placed underneath an overhanging tree to the far bank that looked very ‘carpy’ ,had rattled off and a few minutes later after a very scrappy fight a new pb lay in my net, it took me a while to get my friend out of bed! But once he decided to shift we got the fish back safely all 16lb 5oz of it so I was pleased to say the least with the result. The rig I used was tied with Korda Hybrid Soft Coated Braid   to a size 10  Korda Longshank X Hook  . Baits were 15mm The Source  boilies plus some home made boilies. I hope to get a few nights down there this ever drawing closer winter in search of a biggun! ”

French Hauling

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Customer Merv Pennel fished a weeks session on a lake in Northern France and had a fantastic 23 fish catch. Included in Mervs haul was the gorgeus brace of 50lb mirrors shown below. Merv tempted his haul over a big bed of particles, Mainline Baits Response Pellets  and boilies from the Essential Baits stable. Strangely Merv had no commons until the final 12 hours when he had 6 on the trot. The rigs Merv used consisted of Korda square inline leads, a Kryston Super Mantis Dark   hooklink tied to either a size 8 Korda Wide Gape or a size 6 Korda Longshank X Hook. Well done Merv good angling.

His rig consisted of 10″ of  ESP Striptease  tied to a Korda Longshank X Hook  with a snowman hookbait. Nice one Ian!

Ians’ fish were caught from a silty spot over 5 kilos of  Nash Scopex Squid Plus Freezer Boilies  which just shows that carp will still feed heavily even in the coldest of weather. The rig Ian used was tied with a size 10  Korda Longshank X Hook  and ESP Striptease Hooklink snowman style.

News – Greys Platinum Rods Land World Record Carp

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Congratulations to Andre Kormoniki from London on landing the world record carp. Andre used a  Greys Platinum 12ft 6” 3lb Carp Rod to land the 91lb, YES 91lb monster from Luke Moffats Le Graviers water in France last week. The leviathan is known as the scarred fish or the fish of two halves as it has a scar running round its body. The scar was caused by a rope which was tied around the fishes body to retain it, this was done many years ago before people were less concerned about carp care. The bait Andre used was the awesome Baitcraft T1 a bait with a track record for the bigger specimens. Andre used a blowback rig tied with a Kryston Super Mantis hooklink and a Korda Longshank X Hook to catch the carp of a lifetime. Not content on catching the world record Andre went on to catch ten more fish including carp of 63lb, 56lb, two at 50lb, 40lb, 37lb, 33lb, 32lb, 29lb and 27lb. Well done again Andre, Well done also to Luke Moffet for nurturing such a special water and such a colossal fish.
