Two Tone

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Sad to here that the British Record carp Two Tone has died. Two Tone resided in Mid Kent Fisheries Conningbrook Lake and will be missed by those that fished there and those that didn’t.

Gigantica Result For Dodge

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Customer Dodge Green had a nice result from Gigantica recently. As most of you know Gigantica is quite a hard water and the week that Dodge was there only 4 carp were landed with 5 lost. The nice 39lb 8oz mirror below fell to Dodges rods after only 6 hours fishing, with another lost on the last night. The winning tackle included 12lb Pro Clear  tied to a 4ft 24lb Grand Max leader and a 3oz Atomic Inline Lead. The rig was tied blowback style with Korda Supernatural  in gravel brown tied to size 6 Nash Fang Twister  hook with two Korda Sinkers  on the hooklink. Bait was from Deception Baits. Well done Dodge!!

Scar For Adam

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Customer Adam Holmes has had the big one out of his local lake. Here’s what Adam had to say :-

“Just thought i would sent these pics of the big un out my local lake J&S in Rearsby Leicester.

Caught it a couple of weeks ago at 5am sat morning after having nothing all night on my chod rig but a couple on my other rod i decided to reel in at 3.30am just before bite time.
I changed the rig totally to an inline drop off lead of 3.5oz tied to a 12inch hybrid soft weed green hook link and size 6 Korda Wide Gape Hook fished blowback style.
This was then fished just off the marginal weed at 10yrds range on a soft silt bed fished over a scattering of bait.

I watched Scar roll and fizz over my bait ( NV baits 3FM ) for just over an hour before my right hand rod ripped off, after a good 10min fight he was hitting the spreader block “
Well done Adam
John

First Night Score

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Customer Martin Deathridge scored on his first night at his new syndicate. Martins mirror weighed 24lb 4oz and the successfull bait was Sticky Baits Bloodworm Boilies with the same company’s Bloodworm Dumbells as a hookbait. A Combi-Rig tied blowback style with Korda IQ and Korda Supernatural  to a size 8 ESP Curve Shanx Hook helped to trip up the wary mirror.

Fully Scaled For Rob

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Customer Rob O’Brien continues his roll with this gorgeous fully scaled mirror. Weighing 22lb 4oz (weight doesn’t really matter when they’re as stunning as this) Robs mirror was caught from a spot he’s been pre-baiting. The rig Rob used was unchanged, tied KD style with 25lb Atomic Jel-E-Wyre  to a size 8 Korda Wide Gape Hook. Because of the weed Rob dropped the lead on the take using a Korda Hybrid Lead Clip Leader. Keep this roll going Rob, I want to see more of these stunning carp.

Overnight Success

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Fishing for short periods in the week can bring you success when the lake is quiet and all the other anglers are at home. Here is a 25lb mirror I had on a recent overnighter after baiting the swim on a regular basis for nearly 3 weeks. The fish was landed using an ESP Leadcore leader and Armaled Lead Clip with a Korda 3oz pear lead. The rig consisted of Atomic Jel-E-wyre and a size 6 Korda Wide Gape Hook  tied blowback style fished with a snowman hookbait and a 2 bait stringer cast to the baited area.

Carp In The Snow

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

At last! a catch report. Sean and Lea went carp fishing over the Christmas holidays on the Bluebell Lakes complex and were the only two there. Sean unfortunately didn’t have a sniff, but Lea had two jack pike and the very welcome mirror carp shown below. Lea’s mirror weighed 20lb on the nose and was caught on glugged Dynamite Baits Red Fish Pop Ups . Well done to both Sean and Lea on managing to actually getting out in the arctic conditions. Special congratulations to Lea though for getting the one we all want, a carp in the snow!!

Another One For Me

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Here’s a nice 35lb 2oz mirror carp I had recently. It led me a right dance as it got into a massive weed bed and even though the lead had dropped on the take I had to go out in the boat to free it. It was well hooked though and it was never going to come off. I used half a kilo of scattered 18mm Mainline Activ-8  boilies as bait and the hookbait was a snowman with a 10mm Mainline Hi Visual  Milky Toffee pop up. The rig was tied D rig style with a size 6 Gardner Longshank Incizor  hook  and a 30lb GLT No Can See Fluorocarbon Hooklink .

One For The Future

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

In this Carp Catchers Blog we have one for the future. Customer Rob O’Brien sent in this photo of this gorgeous scaly mirror carp not a monster but who cares. Also notice how Rob has chosen a suitable background for his catch photo which really enhances the whole thing. Rig details are sketchy but a Korda Choddy  hook and a Korda IQ Hooklink  were involved.
