November 20′s Brace using Atomic Jel-E-Wyre

Monday, January 7th, 2013

During the heavy rain last weekend I managed to bank two mid twenty commons at the same time, weighing in at 25lb 13oz and 26lb respectively. The fish were caught using Atomic Jel-E-Wyre Hooklinks and Korda Wide Gape Hooks setup blow back style. The fish fell to CC Moore Odyssey XXX hookbaits glugged in the matching liquid and topped with CC Moore Hellraiser pop ups. The hookbaits were cast to the coloured water flowing into the lake due the hours of rain we recieved.

Another Autumn Result

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

I had another result a few weeks ago on CC Moore Odyssey XXX freezer baits and snowman presentations with CC Moore Hellraiser pop ups. I used blowback rigs on helicopter setups incorporating Korda Wide Gape Hooks and Atomic Jel-E-Wyre Hooklinks. I banked 12 carp in 48 hours including this long, lean 24lb common.

Elsons Cracker

Saturday, June 30th, 2012

I did another overnighter recently at Elsons on the Stanwick Lakes Fisheries and had a result in the form of 5 fish. I turned up to find the lakes quieter than expected due to the bad weather and after a quick walk round I had found a few fish and decided to setup in the nearest swim. Three hinged stiff rigs with CC Moore Odyssey xxx corkball pop ups were soon cast out towards the showing fish followed by a light spread of Odyssey xxx freezer baits. I didn’t have to wait long for the first take which resulted in a 16lb 4oz Common, shortly after I landed a stunning 21lb 8oz Mirror which was the result of reeling in a rod and casting a single at the group of showing fish in the next swim. Through the night I had a further 2 takes including a 20lb 8oz Common and finished up with a 16lb 12oz Common and a 6lb Tench just before packing up.

Hows your spring fishing going? Send us any photos and catch reports to carp@carpcatchers.biz and we will add them to the blog and our facebook page.

New Products – Dynamite Baits Savoury Spice Range

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

Also in stock now is the Dynamite Baits Savoury Spice Range which is Terry Hearns very own recipe. The Dynamite Baits Savoury Spice Boilies are made using spices, mixed herbs and chillies on a fishmeal and birdfood base mix. This recipe looks like an ideal winter bait though I’m sure they will catch year round. The Savoury Spice Boosted Hookbait Dip  has elavated levels of the attractants used in the boilies. Finally the Savoury Spice Pop Ups are made with the same ingredients as the boilies with added cork dust for boosted bouyancy. For more information or to purchase please click on the above links.

Another 30lb common!

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

A recent trip to one of my syndicates saw me bank another 30lb common known as the ‘Elusive Common’ at 33lb 2oz. The fish fell to a corkball pop up fished on a Chod Rig consisting of an ESP Stiff Rigger Hook, Gardner Tripwire and 9 ft of ESP Original Camo Leadcore.

The fish was backed up with a small stocky and a lovely dark 25lb mirror.

New Products – Boilies April 2010

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

A word now on some new baits now in stock. The new Richworth XLR8 Freezer Boilies were developed from an original recipe from Steve Renyard which was a proven big carp catcher in the early 90′s. Steve has now tweaked it with some new ingredients and is 110% confident with it. They are a nice dark brown colour so they won’t spook wary carp. The XLR8 has a sausage/pepperami type smell and looks to be a real winner. We also have the Xlr8 Pop Ups and XLR8 Impact Boilie Dips  in stock.  The Richworth Salmon Supreme Freezer Boilies  are one of Richworths original boilies from back in the day. After continued requests the Salmon Supreme are back and look set to be as good as they ever were. We also have the Salmon Supreme Hookbait Dips and Pop Ups in stock. For more information or to purchase please click on the above links.

Alternative Shot On The Hair Rig

Friday, March 12th, 2010

This is an alternative to the previous Carp Catchers Blog on how to tie The Shot On The Hair Rig. It is tied in exactly the same way except the hair is lengthened by 10mm and the shot is placed halfway along the hair rather than directly next to the bait.

Setting the rig like this means the bait sits up off the lake bed by about 10mm if using a pop up hookbait. It allows the hook to lay flat on the lake bed alway from the bait, making it less obvious to wary carp. This alternate Shot On The Hair Rig  provides good bait separation and ensures the rig is hook heavy, making it more likely to catch in the carps mouth.  Though more effective with pop up hookbaits, a bottom bait can be used and the rig will still be very effective as it is still hook heavy.
